Camera and accessories for smaller video productions

Not every production needs to drag half of Bangkok across the Gulf of Thailand. For smaller projects, we can arrange local Samui-based videographers. Events, parties, weddings, real estate reels, social media content, interviews and similar shoots can often be handled entirely with local crew. We are well connected with Samui-based videographers and can build a small local team depending on what the project needs. The equipment selection on the island is naturally more limited than in Bangkok, but there is still a useful range of professional equipment available locally.
Depending on availability, local Samui gear owners can arrange such gear with assistants: Sony FX3, Canon R5, RED Komodo, Zeiss lenses, Sigma lenses, Canon lenses, Sony lenses, DJI Ronin RS-series gimbals, DJI Mavic 4 Pro drone, Hollyland wireless video transmitters, Portkeys monitors, Feelworld monitors, Blackmagic ATEM Mini for streaming, V-Mount adapters, V-Mount batteries, Shure microphones, RØDE microphones, D-Tap splitters, CFast cards and readers ets. So for a small job, there is no reason to automatically send a truck from Bangkok just because someone needs a camera.

Lighting equipment availability

Basic lighting is also available locally on isle. For smaller shoots in koh Samui, our fixer can normally find COB LED fixtures in the 100–300W range, such as Aputure 120D, Amaran 200x or Godox SL60, together with softboxes and basic lighting stands. That is enough for many interviews, events, real estate videos, social content and smaller commercial jobs. But once the lighting list starts looking like a proper lighting list, things change. If you need large professional lighting rigs, bigger grip packages or specialized equipment, we can bring it from Bangkok. Depending on the production, this can include professional fixtures from ARRI, Aputure, Nanlite and other manufacturers, as well as ARRI and Filmgear HMI and tungsten equipment. For large outdoor productions, we can also supply equipment such as Dyna Maxibrutes and other high-output fixtures. And then there are the things that nobody remembers until the gaffer asks for them. Generators, heavy cine grip, cine dollies and sliders, jibs, cranes and cherry pickers does not grow naturally under the coconut palms.

Bringing professional production equipment to Koh Samui

For bigger productions requiring professional lighting, grip, camera movement or specialized equipment, we can supply additional equipment from our Bangkok store. This allows us to build the package around the actual production instead of forcing the production to use whatever happens to be sitting in a Samui rental room. We can arrange transportation of professional equipment including: Large generators, Grip trucks, Dollies, Jibs and Cranes, Cherry pickers, any Professional lighting packages or Specialized camera movement equipment. For confirmed equipment requirements, we can arrange delivery to Koh Samui within approximately 48 hours. This is particularly useful for productions that need equipment and systems that are not normally available on the island, whether that means ARRI SkyPanels, large Aputure or Nanlite fixtures, HMI or tungsten systems, professional grip equipment or larger camera movement setups. The idea is quite simple. Use what Samui already has when it makes sense. Bring the specialized equipment from Bangkok when the production needs it. And move the people and equipment by plane, van, truck or ferry depending on what is actually required. Because Koh Samui may look like paradise on the call sheet. But behind the camera, somebody still has to get the truck onto the ferry.
