Case Study: Shooting a German Rap Music Video on Koh Samui

We recently wrapped a one-week music video shoot on Koh Samui for a German production team, which included their Producer, Assistant Producer, DoP, and the artists themselves. To support them, the Filmservice team provided a highly efficient local crew and equipment package tailored to their budget and creative goals:


  • Local Expertise: A dedicated Production Fixer managing all locations and local permits.
  • Camera Department: A 1st Camera Assistant (Focus Puller) handling the camera package and lenses.
  • Lighting & Grip: A robust crew consisting of a Gaffer, BestBoy Light and two Electricians, alongside a fully equipped grip Toyota Commuter van packed with stands, clamps, and rigging gear.
  • The Lighting Package: We transported a highly sought-after, medium-production Aputure package directly from Bangkok, featuring the Aputure 1200d, 600d, and 300d series.
  • Smart Budgeting: To optimize the client’s travel budget, we sourced an experienced local Sound Recordist from nearby Phuket, saving them the cost of flying a crew member out from Bangkok.
The result? The international filmmakers got incredible footage, stayed perfectly on schedule, and experienced the unique, relaxed Samui atmosphere on set.
