Case Study: A "Netflix-Style" Artist Documentary Under Lockdown
This unique project came together during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of global lockdowns, our talented DoP, Andrii Palekha, was based permanently on Koh Samui. When an international artist approached us to document her work, we immediately saw an opportunity to create something visually stunning despite tight travel restrictions and limited mainland resources. Metaphysical Art film focuses on a local artist who designs and creates bespoke, high-quality costume jewelry. These are not ordinary accessories—each custom piece is crafted with unique metaphysical properties and symbolic meaning. To tell her story, we opted for a premium "Netflix Documercial" style. The narrative structure combines deeply personal, cinematic interviews shot across various stunning island locations, interwoven with High-speed, slow-motion B-roll footage capturing the artist interacting with the island's raw nature.Precise, highly controlled studio product cinematography showcasing the intricate textures and details of her jewelry lines.
Even though this was a micro-budget project shot with a skeleton crew on the island, we refused to compromise on production value. The final cut looks like a large-scale commercial production, proving that resourcefulness and local expertise can overcome budget constraints. The entire project—from the first day of shooting through to the final color grade and edit—was completed in just two weeks.
